Abner Lozano
Abner Jonathan Lozano-Chavez was born in Santa Clara, California, to Native Mexican parents, Rodolfo Lozano, a pastor, and Elodia Chavez. His paternal great grandfather is of Italian descent. He was raised in Stockton, CA, with his two sisters and younger brother.
In his upbringing, Abner was diagnosed with dyslexia at 12 years old and was told by his teachers that he would never be able to achieve a higher education. He faced a lot of trouble by getting suspended numerous times, getting switched out to different schools every year and even breaking into houses at a very young age. His parents feared that he would go into a different pathway with legal troubles and gun violence so they obligated him to work in the fields picking crops for a summer and it was there where he discovered his passion for acting.
Known for his striking presence and physical versatility, Abner Lozano attended the University of California, Berkeley where he received a B.A. in Theater and Law and participated in a number of plays. During his college education, Abner studied acting under award winning actress and playwright Margo Hall. He also trained classically at the Berkeley Repertory School of Theatre under Rolf Saxon. He completed his education at both schools and graduated in 2020.
