Dhanya Mary Varghese was born in a Nasrani Syrian Christian family in Piravom near Muvattupuzha, Kerala, India. She was a student of St. Theresa's College in Kochi. Her modeling assignments included Chavara Matrimony, Chungath Prince Jewellery, Asian Paints, East Tea and Manorama. Dhanya made her debut on the tinsel screen through director Madhupal's Thalappavu in which she played the character of Saramma.
