John Milton Branton
John Milton Branton is an award-winning producer, director, screenwriter, and former Head of Production for Benetone Films-Thailand. He is known for directing the political thriller, "Dark Power", and the psychological thriller, "Absolute Fear", which he also wrote and co-produced; and as the 2nd Unit Director for the features "Abduction", "Surrounded", "Zombie Tidal Wave", "Pound of Flesh", "Pernicious", and "Special Ops", and for 26 episodes of "The New Addams Family Series" for Fox. He produced, wrote, and directed "Tears of a Lotus" which won numerous Best Film and Best Director awards, was invited to more than 30 international film festivals, including Toronto, Montreal, Palm Springs, Quebec, Bilbao, and St. Petersburg, Russia, and aired on TV in Canada, the US, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Argentina, and Russia, among others. He co-produced Stealing Roses, which won Best of Fest and Best Actor Awards for John Heard and Cindy Williams at the LA Comedy Festival. His short films have been selected by more than 50 international film festivals and won numerous awards, including Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Director. He began his career as an actor in Toronto, appearing in more than 50 plays, television programs, and feature films. He is a produced playwright and was the Artistic Director of three Equity theater companies. Plays he directed received 17 Sterling Award nominations, winning seven, including Best New Play and Best New Musical. He holds an MFA from York University in Toronto, is a graduate of the Vancouver Film School, and studied screenwriting with Robert McKee and Alan Watt. He lives in Vancouver with his wife and sons after many years living and working in Asia.
