Leanne Campbell

Leanne is a Melbourne girl and grew up in a broken family home, where hard work was the norm. Her mother had a very strong work ethic and this led Leanne to develop her own work ethics and to keep pushing for what she believes in. As an overweight woman in her thirties, working in the entertainment industry just wasn't even an option in her family, until she had an opportunity to work on the set of 'Knowing' a feature film starring Nicolas Cage in 2009. In 2010, she once again delved into the film area on the program 'Wilfred' These two very different experiences sparked the journey she is now on and ignited her passion for films. Realising that the world in front of camera had very limited options, for someone like her she joined 'Metro' TV, a member group of Channel 31, and began learning all the aspects of film and TV production on the job. During this time she began developing ideas of what she wanted to produce in film and TV. Leanne has been working on perfecting her techniques so that her skills are of the highest quality. Not satisfied with just learning at Metro, began developing networks within the film community and started volunteering on student films to gain more experience and greater opportunities. Six Lovers, an Independent feature film, was her first break into crew work where she worked as a camera assistant, she learned valuable skills and set experience. Herdeveloping passion for the industry and a dissatisfaction with waiting because she started later in life, pushes her to find ways to learn and she has gained valuable knowledge regarding how the actors and crews interact with each other and valuable skills for both crew and on screen work. In 2012 Leanne traveled to Los Angeles to attend the 'Taxi' music conference and met Lani Ford a singer/songwriter from New York and filmed and edited the music video for her song 'Lies I want to hear' in association with Justine Jones. This impromptu experience of creating inspired her to begin writing and in 2013 she had written and directed her first short film. Leanne has been working in the industry in some notable TV shows. Seven seasons of Wentworth, various appearances on Winners and Losers and Neighbors. Films include, The Cup, 10 Terrorists, Healing, the award winning Tropfest film 'We've all been there'. In September 2014, Leanne saw the need for a premium diverse film festival and branched out to create the festival. The successful first season of the POP international film festival screened in January 2015, and has now become an annual film festival that complements the work she is currently doing. Leanne is proud of her work on the The Faceless Man feature film, which is being considered for an AACTA award and is the first speaking role where Leanne has seen the project on the big screen at a public screening, having won the role at her audition.
