2020 / 2021 Christie Will Wolf wins Best Canadian Female Director, Best Director, Best Film, Best Sci-Fi Film [Her Coming]. She was additionally nominated for Best TV Movie [Five Star Christmas] in the West Coast Canadian Leo Awards. The year prior, 2019, Will received several distinctions, including Best Screenwriter [Killer Ending] in addition to receiving the Legacy Award from the Directors Guild of Canada, British Columbia. Early Career: Christie worked as Director Peter Berg's Assistant; was hired by Bob Yari of The Yari Film (following his Oscar win on the movie CRASH) to help launch a division of lower budget independent movies, and eventually started directing and producing "Making of" companion pieces for major motion movies. She produced the comedy "Hollywood and Wine" starring SNL alum's David Spade, Norm McDonald, Chris Kattan, Chris Parnell and John & Kevin Farley. Further, she also was a producer on "Christmas In Wonderland" starring Patrick Swayzee, Tim Curry, and Chris Kattan. Shortly thereafter, Christie wrote and directed her first film 'Dysfunction', which was received with critical acclaim and garnered several awards, including "Best First Time Director". Following this, she wrote and directed her first feature film "Slightly Single in L.A" which became a pioneer acquisition for Netflix receiving rave reviews within the demographic (18-32 womxn). Next, Christie went on to write and direct a comedy called "Boy Toy", which was acquired and released by Lionsgate; she was then hired to write and direct another independent feature starring Vivica Fox. Quickly, top tier producers in the television movie space took notice of Christie's work, and very quickly she became busy writing and directing made for television movies. Today, Christie is one of the most sought after television movie writer / directors to having written and directed over more movies for the small screen than any other female television director to date (fact checked with Women In Film archives on IMDB). Notably, Christie wrote and directed the first ever movie entirely helmed by a female for the Hallmark Channel (Harvest Love, 2017) as well as directing the first music movie for the network (Over The Moon, 2019). Christie has been noted in The Globe and Mail, Women in Film Just Watch Us, The Province, and The Film Cap, as a "Director To Watch" over 4 times (2009, 2012, 2017 & 2019). Christie Will Wolf grew up in a small town in northern Canada living above a ski shop. As a teen, she attended a boarding school in its first year of co-education, being one of thirty (30) girls in a boarding school with over three thousand (3000) boys. Upon high school graduation, Christie received the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award from the Canadian Government. She studied Film and Musical Theatre at Emerson College in Boston MA , later earned a BFA in the performing arts from The College of Charleston in SC., and eventually a Masters of Fine Arts in Film and Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. Interestingly, Christie played Division 3 basketball in University, while also alpine ski racing competitively. She was equally entrenched in film and photography during this time, while also studying acting full time. In her early year, Christie graced stages across North America as an actress and singer, before moving to Los Angeles. She attended the Neighborhood Playhouse studying Sanford Meisner's approach to acting; was a series regular on ABC's The Evidence, became a resident writer and director in Vancouver Canada's The Beaumont Black Box Theatre. Soon thereafter, Christie made the decision to focus entirely on her directing. Christie is an active member with the Alliance of Woman Directors, Women in Film, We For She, and is part of #JustWatchUs - an initiative by The Directors Guild of Canada to push for hire in episodic television for Canadian Directors. She also is a recipient of Canada's prestigious Terry Fox Award.
