Gianni Capaldi
Award winning Scottish actor Gianni Capaldi was born in Motherwell, Scotland to his Italian parents. Recently credited with Best actor awards from San Diego's IndieFest and Chicago's Amarcord film festival as well as being part of Scottish Bafta nominated comedy Gasping, as well as nominated at 2017 BIFA Raindance for Isolani. Capaldi's love for acting came from his family's entertainment background. He is related to Scottish entertainers Jimmy Logan and Peter Capaldi. Capaldi made his first appearance in the poker comedy All In. Next Capaldi portrayed an English gangster in the Sony action fantasy The Cross which starred Brian Austin Green, Vinnie Jones, Danny Trejo,Tom Sizemore and the late Michael Clarke Duncan. Soon following, Capaldi worked alongside Academy Award Winning actor Morgan Freeman in Wish Wizard, a short film made in collaboration with the Make a Wish Foundation. Capaldi briefly expanded into television with appearances in the HDnet reality television series Hollywood Royale.
His first breakthrough leading roles came with the Voltage Pictures action crime drama Ambushed where Capaldi stars alongside Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones and Randy Couture. Next, Capaldi stepped into FBI agent out to redeem the murder of his father, alongside Dolph Lundgren, Billy Zane and Robert Davi. In a Certain Justice, Capaldi stepped into the role of Vin, starring alongside Cung Le, Dolph Lundgren, Vinnie Jones and Briana Evigan.
Capaldi has acting credits in: action drama Crossroads, romantic drama Don't Pass Me By, Jeremy London's directorial debut, Devils Dozen, alongside C Thomas Howell, Jake Bussey and Eric Roberts; Jason Mewes superhero action comedy titled Vigilante Diaries, paranormal drama The Between with child actors Joel Courtney and Isabelle Furhman.
Capaldi then filmed Italian theatrically released horror Janara before the BBC comedy short film Gasping, set in Scotland with director Greg Hemphill and comedian Frankie Boyle. Gasping was nominated for Best Short Film at the 2015 Edinburgh Film Festival.
Capaldi also had the honor to star in legendary acting icon, Mickey Rooney's, last film Jeckyl and Hyde. Capaldi lead the cast as the despicable Edward Hyde where he teamed up with Oscar winner actor Margaret O'Brien for which role he won numerous awards. He then went on to work on Last Man's club, Astro and Ulysses alongside Danny Glover.
In 2015, Capaldi starred in Bite alongside Costas Mandylor which premiered at Festival de Cine de Sitges. Next up was Ghosts of Garip in Turkey then The Wicked Within, a gothic thriller alongside Sienna Guillory which was released by After Dark and 20th Century Fox theatrically in North America. Courtney Solomon executive produced Wicked Within.
Capaldi went on to star in Rottentail and other productions such as Nightworld shot in Bulgaria with Robert Englund and Shadow Within where he starred alongside Lindsay Lohan.
He lead the cast with Estella Warren in 6 episodes of Tv show Feel The Dead, executive produced by 2 Oscar winners, Phillip Goldfine and Nicholas Chartier.
Then from "Lee Daniel's The Butler" producer's latest film "River Runs Red" starring alongside John Cusack, Tay Diggs, Luke Hemsworth and George Lopez. River Runs Red will be released theatrically throughout the states November 2018.
Capaldi recently finished filming in Scotland in folklore epic "Robert The Bruce" alongside Angus MacFadyen, Jared Harris, Daniel Portman and Zach McGowan as well as The Becoming in Kentucky starring Toby Kebbel. Capaldi just filmed an episode of BBC's long running comedy Still Game in Glasgow.
Towards the tail end of 2018, Capaldi starred in Xmas movie , My Adventures With Santa alongside Denise Richards before finishing the year on clown horror genre Circus Road. And now ending the year starring in Cranley Gardens , a thriller filmed in London by 2018 Berlin Festival Winner, Raphael Kaplinsiki.
